SOIL – LIFE – RELATIONS
In close collaboration with artist Debra Solomon and under the guidance of Urbaniahoeve, the Community of Praxis of the Amsterdam Zuidoost Food Forest samples and analyses the soils of the 55-hectare public food forest. This video documents the extensive soil and chromatogram archive resulting from their first sampling phase of the Amsterdam Zuidoost Food Forest soils. Soil chromatography is a technically accessible and affordable soil analysis technique that reveals soil-life interactions and relations in a visually compelling manner.
Commissioned by Het Nieuwe Instituut for «Who is We?» The Pavilion of the Netherlands at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia 2021.
